ADF WITH INDONESIAN DISABLED PEOPLE'S ASSOCIATION ORGANIZE AN ASEAN ENABLING MASTERPLAN 2025

On 23 February 2020, ASEAN Disability Forum (ADF), with support from the Australian government, collaborated with the Indonesian Disabled People’s Association (Perkumpulan Penyandang Disabilitas Indonesia – PPDI), AGENDA’s partner in Indonesia, to organize an ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025: Mainstreaming the Rights of Persons with Disabilities awareness-raising campaign  to coincide with Jakarta Car-Free Day. ADF and PPDI invited speakers from the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Indonesia, General Elections Commission of Indonesia, Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC), Ministry of Social Welfare (MoSW) and Central Statistics Body of Indonesia, along with representatives from a social enterprise empowering persons with hearing disabilities, Kopi Sunyi (Sunyi House of Coffee and Hope). Speakers provided information on the Masterplan, and Ms. Yuyun Wahyuningrum, the Indonesian representative to the AICHR, spoke about linking the rights of persons with disabilities with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs). University students interning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) provided information on the Masterplan to visitors and directed them to a Quick Response (QR) code linked to ADF awareness materials and a factsheet on the Masterplan. Visitors were encouraged to take a survey on the Masterplan and those who did received a free coffee voucher from Kopi Sunyi as a token of appreciation. The event featured performances of music, dance and Indonesian martial art, Pencak Silat, performed by children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. Visitors could also learn and practice sign language. Two-hundred and thirteen people attended the event and more than 200 signed a banner showing support for the implementation of the Masterplan. Among the total participants, there were 93 female participants.
